⁴ Now John wore ^(A)a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was ^(B)locusts and ^(C)wild honey.

⁸ They answered him, ^(A)“He wore a garment of hair, with a belt of leather about his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

²² Of them you may eat: ^(A)the locust of any kind, the bald locust of any kind, the cricket of any kind, and the grasshopper of any kind.

⁴ “On that day ^(A)every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive,

⁶ Now John was ^(A)clothed with camel's hair and ^(B)wore a leather belt around his waist and ate ^(C)locusts and ^(D)wild honey.

⁸ What then did you go out to see? A man^[a] dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

³ And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for ^(A)1,260 days, ^(B)clothed in sackcloth.”

¹⁷ and ^(A)he will go before him ^(B)in the spirit and power of Elijah, ^(C)to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and ^(D)the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, ^(E)to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

¹⁸ For John came ^(A)neither eating ^(B)nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’

^5 (A)“Behold, I will send you ^(B)Elijah the prophet ^(C)before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
