² “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”^[a](A)

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”^[a](A)

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall this kingdom be left to another people. It shall crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,^(A)

¹⁵ and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near;^[a] repent, and believe in the good news.”^[b](A)

⁷ As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’^[a](A)

¹⁰ For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.^(A)

¹⁸ When they heard this, they were silenced. And they praised God, saying, “Then God has given even to the gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”^(A)

¹⁰ Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”^(A)

⁴ so John the baptizer appeared^[a] in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.^(A)
