⁶ He is not here, for he has risen, ^(A)as he said. Come, see the place where he^[a] lay.

⁶ And he said to them, ^(A)“Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.

⁴⁰ For ^(A)just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, ^(B)so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁶ He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, ^(A)while he was still in Galilee, ^7 (B)that the Son of Man ^(C)must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and ^(D)be crucified and on ^(E)the third day rise.” ⁸ And ^(F)they remembered his words,

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection

^21 (A)From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that ^(B)he must go to Jerusalem and ^(C)suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on ^(D)the third day be raised.

²³ and ^(A)when they did not find his body, they came back saying that ^(B)they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.

⁴ Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. ⁵ And stooping to look in, he saw ^(A)the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, ⁷ and ^(B)the face cloth, which had been on Jesus'^[a] head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the other disciple, ^(C)who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; ⁹ for as yet ^(D)they did not understand the Scripture, ^(E)that he must rise from the dead.

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, ^(A)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, ^(B)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

⁶³ and said, “Sir, we remember how ^(A)that impostor said, while he was still alive, ^(B)‘After three days I will rise.’
