² And behold, there was a great earthquake, for ^(A)an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.

¹² And ^(A)she saw ^(B)two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. ¹³ They said to her, ^(C)“Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, ^(D)“They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”

^12 (A)It was revealed to them that ^(B)they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you ^(C)by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, ^(D)things into which angels long to look.

¹⁶ Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:

²⁶ and suddenly ^(A)there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately ^(B)all the doors were opened, and ^(C)everyone's bonds were unfastened.

² And they found ^(A)the stone rolled away from the tomb, ³ but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ⁴ While they were perplexed about this, behold, ^(B)two ^(C)men stood by them in dazzling apparel. ⁵ And as they were ^(D)frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

³ And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away ^(A)the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” ⁴ And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—^(B)it was very large. ⁵ And ^(C)entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, ^(D)dressed in ^(E)a white robe, and ^(F)they were alarmed.

¹⁹ Then ^(A)God's temple in heaven was opened, and ^(B)the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings,^[a] peals of thunder, an earthquake, and ^(C)heavy hail.

The Resurrection

20 ^(A)Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that ^(B)the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
