⁹ This fulfilled the prophecy of Jeremiah that says,

¹² And I said to them, “If you like, give me my wages, whatever I am worth; but only if you want to.” So they counted out for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

¹³ And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter^[a]”—this magnificent sum at which they valued me! So I took the thirty coins and threw them to the potter in the Temple of the Lord.

²² All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

² “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. If anyone makes a special vow to dedicate someone to the Lord by paying the value of that person, ³ here is the scale of values to be used. A man between the ages of twenty and sixty is valued at fifty shekels^[a] of silver, as measured by the sanctuary shekel. ⁴ A woman of that age is valued at thirty shekels^[b] of silver. ⁵ A boy between the ages of five and twenty is valued at twenty shekels of silver; a girl of that age is valued at ten shekels^[c] of silver. ⁶ A boy between the ages of one month and five years is valued at five shekels of silver; a girl of that age is valued at three shekels^[d] of silver. ⁷ A man older than sixty is valued at fifteen shekels of silver; a woman of that age is valued at ten shekels^[e] of silver.

³² But if the ox gores a slave, either male or female, the animal’s owner must pay the slave’s owner thirty silver coins,^[a] and the ox must be stoned.

¹⁵ and asked, “How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?” And they gave him thirty pieces of silver.
