⁶ But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into ^(A)the treasury, since it is blood money.”

⁷ And the scribes and the Pharisees ^(A)watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, ^(B)so that they might find a reason to accuse him. ⁸ But ^(C)he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there. ⁹ And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, ^(D)is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?”

¹⁸ You shall not bring the fee of a prostitute or the wages of a dog^[a] into the house of the Lord your God in payment for any vow, for both of these are an abomination to the Lord your God.
