⁴ saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? ^(A)See to it yourself.”

¹² We should not be like ^(A)Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? ^(B)Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous.

¹⁹ but ^(A)with the precious blood of Christ, like that of ^(B)a lamb ^(C)without blemish or spot.

²⁶ For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, ^(A)holy, innocent, unstained, ^(B)separated from sinners, and ^(C)exalted above the heavens.

^16 (A)They profess to know God, but they ^(B)deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, ^(C)unfit for any good work.

² through the insincerity of ^(A)liars whose consciences are seared,

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever ^(A)the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, ^(B)so that every mouth may be stopped, and ^(C)the whole world may be held accountable to God.

¹⁵ But ^(A)since it is a matter of questions about words and names and ^(B)your own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of these things.” ¹⁶ And he drove them from the tribunal. ¹⁷ And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this.

²⁸ And ^(A)though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, ^(B)they asked Pilate to have him executed.

⁷ The Jews^[a] answered him, “We have a law, and ^(A)according to that law he ought to die because ^(B)he has made himself the Son of God.”
