³ When Judas, who had betrayed him,^(A) saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver^(B) to the chief priests and the elders.

¹⁰ Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation^(A) and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

²⁷ As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.^(A)

So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”

Jesus Arrested^(A)

⁴⁷ While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, ⁴⁸ but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

³ So Judas came to the garden, guiding^(A) a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees.^(B) They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

² The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.^(A)

² and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus,^(A) for they were afraid of the people. ³ Then Satan^(B) entered Judas, called Iscariot,^(C) one of the Twelve. ⁴ And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard^(D) and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. ⁵ They were delighted and agreed to give him money.^{(E) 6} He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

Jesus Arrested^(A)

⁴³ Just as he was speaking, Judas,^(B) one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.

⁴⁴ Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” ⁴⁵ Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!”^(C) and kissed him. ⁴⁶ The men seized Jesus and arrested him.
