⁷² But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man!”

^3 (A)But Peter said, “Ananias, why has ^(B)Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? ⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

^34 (A)Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”

⁷⁴ Then ^(A)he began to ^[a]curse and ^[b]swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!”

Immediately a rooster crowed.

³⁴ But I say to you, ^(A)do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is ^(B)God’s throne; ³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of ^(C)the great King. ³⁶ Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.

³ Then he said to me, “This is the ^(A)curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth: ‘Every thief shall be expelled,’ according to this side of the scroll; and, ‘Every perjurer shall be expelled,’ according to that side of it.”
