⁵¹ Suddenly one of those with Jesus put his hand on his sword, drew it, and struck the slave of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

⁴⁷ But one of those who stood near drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

⁴ for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human,^[a] but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments^(A)

³⁶ Jesus answered, “My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom belonged to this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.”^(A)

⁴⁹ When those who were around him saw what was coming, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword?”^{(A) 50} Then one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear. ⁵¹ But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.

¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear. The slave’s name was Malchus. ¹¹ Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath. Am I not to drink the cup that the Father has given me?”^(A)

³⁶ He said to them, “But now, the one who has a purse must take it, and likewise a bag. And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one. ³⁷ For I tell you, this scripture must be fulfilled in me, ‘And he was counted among the lawless,’ and indeed what is written about me is being fulfilled.”^{(A) 38} They said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” He replied, “It is enough.”

³⁵ Peter said to him, “Even though I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And so said all the disciples.^(A)

⁵⁵ But he turned and rebuked them.
