The Shepherd Struck

²⁷ And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will ^(A)strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ ²⁸ But after I am raised up, ^(B)I will go before you to Galilee.”

³² Behold, ^(A)the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when ^(B)you will be scattered, each to his own home, and ^(C)will leave me alone. ^(D)Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

^5 (A)So they were scattered, because there was no shepherd, and ^(B)they became food for all the wild beasts. My sheep were scattered; ⁶ they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. My sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, ^(C)with none to search or seek for them.

⁹ “Then ^(A)they will deliver you up ^(B)to tribulation and ^(C)put you to death, and ^(D)you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then many will fall away^[a] and ^(E)betray one another and hate one another.

Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial

³¹ “Simon, Simon, behold, ^(A)Satan demanded to have you,^{[a] (B)}that he might sift you like wheat, ³² but ^(C)I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, ^(D)strengthen your brothers.”
