¹⁵ and said, “What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?” And they ^(A)paid him ^(B)thirty pieces of silver.

¹² Then I said to them, “If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them.” And they weighed out as my wages ^(A)thirty pieces of silver. ¹³ Then the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—^(B)the lordly price at which I was priced by them. So I took the ^(C)thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord, to the potter.

³² If the ox gores a slave, male or female, the owner shall give to their master ^(A)thirty shekels^[a] of silver, and ^(B)the ox shall be stoned.

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery,^{[a] (A)}insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts ^(B)trained in greed. ^(C)Accursed children! ¹⁵ Forsaking the right way, ^(D)they have gone astray. They have followed ^(E)the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved ^(F)gain from wrongdoing,

³ And ^(A)in their greed they will exploit you ^(B)with false words. ^(C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

⁹ But ^(A)those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, ^(B)into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that ^(C)plunge people into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of ^(D)all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Judas Hangs Himself

³ Then when ^(A)Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus^[a] was condemned, ^(B)he changed his mind and brought back ^(C)the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, ⁴ saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? ^(D)See to it yourself.” ⁵ And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, ^(E)he departed, and he went and hanged himself.

¹⁹ And they said to him, “Keep quiet; ^(A)put your hand on your mouth and come with us and be to us ^(B)a father and a priest. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and clan in Israel?” ²⁰ And the priest's heart was glad. He took the ephod and the household gods and the carved image and went along with the people.

¹⁰ And Micah said to him, “Stay with me, and be to me ^(A)a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver a year and a suit of clothes and your living.” And the Levite went in.
