¹² By pouring this ointment on my body she has prepared me for burial.^(A)

⁷ Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She bought it^[a] so that she might keep it for the day of my burial.^(A)

⁸ She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial.^(A)

⁵⁶ Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments.
