¹⁹ After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

^10 (A)For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, ^(B)that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

¹² Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, ¹³ each one’s work will become clear; for the Day ^(A)will declare it, because ^(B)it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. ¹⁵ If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

⁷ For ^(A)none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. ⁸ For if we ^(B)live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. ⁹ For ^(C)to this end Christ died ^[a]and rose and lived again, that He might be ^(D)Lord of both the dead and the living. ¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For ^(E)we shall all stand before the judgment seat of ^[b]Christ. ¹¹ For it is written:

¹² So then ^(G)each of us shall give account of himself to God.

The Parable of the Unjust Steward

16 He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was ^[a]wasting his goods. ² So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an ^(A)account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’

⁵ But while the bridegroom was delayed, ^(A)they all slumbered and slept.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master ^(A)is delaying ^[a]his coming,’

²³ Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. ²⁴ And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

3 My brethren, ^(A)let not many of you become teachers, ^(B)knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
