¹⁵ to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. At once^(A)

²⁴ When he began the reckoning, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him,

¹³ He summoned ten of his slaves and gave them ten pounds and said to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’ ¹⁴ But the citizens of his country hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’

⁴⁸ But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required, and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.^(A)
