⁴⁸ But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master ^(A)is delayed,’

³² Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.

³ knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come ^(A)in the last days with scoffing, ^(B)following their own sinful desires. ^4 (C)They will say, “Where is the promise of ^(D)his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” ⁵ For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth ^(E)was formed out of water and through water ^(F)by the word of God,

⁴⁵ But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master ^(A)is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and ^(B)get drunk,

³ But Peter said, “Ananias, why has ^(A)Satan filled your heart to lie ^(B)to the Holy Spirit and ^(C)to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land?

² During supper, when ^(A)the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, ^(A)murder, adultery,

^4 (A)“Do not say in your heart, after the Lord your God has thrust them out before you, ‘It is because of my righteousness that the Lord has brought me in to possess this land,’ whereas it is ^(B)because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out before you.

²² Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, ^(A)if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
