⁴ Jesus replied to them, “Watch out that no one deceives^(A) you. ⁵ For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many.^(B)

²⁴ For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray,^(A) if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Take note: I have told you in advance.

³ Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy^[a] comes first and the man of lawlessness^[b] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

¹⁴ It deceives those who live on the earth^(A) because of the signs that it is permitted to perform in the presence of the beast,^(B) telling those who live on the earth to make an image^[a] of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

¹⁸ This calls for wisdom:^[a](A) Let the one who has understanding calculate^[b] the number of the beast, because it is the number of a person. Its number is 666.^[c]

¹³ Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs^(A) coming from the dragon’s mouth,^(B) from the beast’s mouth,^(C) and from the mouth of the false prophet.^{(D) 14} For they are demonic spirits performing signs,^(E) who travel to the kings of the whole world to assemble them^(F) for the battle on the great day of God, the Almighty.^{(G) 15} “Look, I am coming like a thief. Blessed^(H) is the one who is alert and remains clothed^[a](I) so that he may not go around naked and people see his shame.”^{(J) 16} So they assembled the kings at the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.^[b](K)

Satanic Rebellion Crushed

⁷ When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will go out to deceive the nations^(A) at the four corners of the earth,^(B) Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle.^(C) Their number is like the sand of the sea.^{(D) 9} They came up across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the encampment of the saints, the beloved city.^(E) Then fire came down from heaven^[a] and consumed them.^(F)
