²² And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved, but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.^(A)

²⁰ And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved, but for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he has cut short those days.

²⁴ For false messiahs^[a] and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.^(A)

³¹ And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.^(A)

¹⁰ Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.^(A)

¹¹ even before they had been born or had done anything good or bad (so that God’s purpose of election might continue,

⁷ And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them?

All Israel Will Be Saved

²⁵ I want you to understand this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not claim to be wiser than you are: a hardening has come upon part of Israel until the full number of the gentiles has come in.^{(A) 26} And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,

²⁸ As regards the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but as regards election they are beloved for the sake of their ancestors, ²⁹ for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. ³⁰ Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience,^{(D) 31} so also they have now been disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they also may now^[a] receive mercy.

¹⁴ For many are called, but few are chosen.”
