¹⁶ then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

²¹ Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.^{(A) 22} For this is the time of punishment^(B) in fulfillment^(C) of all that has been written.

¹⁵ With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away^(A) when the city is punished.^(B)”

¹⁶ When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters^(C) and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them.^{(D) 17} As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives!^(E) Don’t look back,^(F) and don’t stop anywhere in the plain!^(G) Flee to the mountains^(H) or you will be swept away!”

⁷ By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen,^(A) in holy fear built an ark^(B) to save his family.^(C) By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.^(D)

²⁰ Those officials of Pharaoh who feared^(A) the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. ²¹ But those who ignored^(B) the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field.

¹¹ After the Babylonian army had withdrawn^(A) from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh’s army, ¹² Jeremiah started to leave the city to go to the territory of Benjamin to get his share of the property^(B) among the people there.
