¹³ “But woe ^(A)to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you ^(B)shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you ^(C)neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.^[a]

⁵² Woe to you ^(A)lawyers! ^(B)For you have taken away the key of ^(C)knowledge. You ^(D)did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.”

^29 (A)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,

^27 (A)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like ^(B)whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and ^(C)all uncleanness.

^23 (A)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ^(B)you tithe mint and dill and ^(C)cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: ^(D)justice and mercy and faithfulness. ^(E)These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.

Saul Ravages the Church

8 And ^(A)Saul ^(B)approved of his execution.

And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and ^(C)they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

¹⁵ Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message.

⁸ Just as ^(A)Jannes and Jambres ^(B)opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, ^(C)men corrupted in mind and ^(D)disqualified regarding the faith.
