¹¹ The greatest among you will be your servant.^(A)

¹⁹ For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might gain all the more.^(A)

¹⁴ So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.^{(A) 15} For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.^(B)

⁴³ But it is not so among you; instead, whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant,^{(A) 44} and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all.

¹³ For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence,^[a] but through love become enslaved to one another.^(A)

⁵ For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’s sake.^(A)

²⁶ But not so with you; rather, the greatest among you must become like the youngest and the leader like one who serves.^{(A) 27} For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.^(B)

⁵ Let the same mind be in you that was^[a] in Christ Jesus,^(A)

²⁶ It will not be so among you, but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant,^{(A) 27} and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave,

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? I am talking like a madman—I am a better one: with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless floggings, and often near death.^(A)
