¹¹ But ^(A)he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Serving All Men

¹⁹ For though I am ^(A)free from all men, ^(B)I have made myself a servant to all, ^(C)that I might win the more;

^14 (A)If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, ^(B)you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For ^(C)I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

^43 (A)Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. ⁴⁴ And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.

¹³ For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only ^(A)do not use liberty as an ^(B)opportunity for the flesh, but ^(C)through love serve one another.

^5 (A)For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ^(B)ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.

^26 (A)But not so among you; on the contrary, ^(B)he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. ^27 (C)For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet ^(D)I am among you as the One who serves.

The Humbled and Exalted Christ

^5 (A)Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, ⁶ who, ^(B)being in the form of God, did not consider it ^[a]robbery to be equal with God, ^7 (C)but ^[b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form ^(D)of a bondservant, and ^(E)coming in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and ^(F)became ^(G)obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

²⁶ Yet ^(A)it shall not be so among you; but ^(B)whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. ^27 (C)And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—
