¹⁰ When he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil, asking, “Who is this?”

⁵ He asked, “Who are you, Lord?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him.^{(A) 17} So the crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify.^{[a] 18} It was also because they heard that he had performed this sign that the crowd went to meet him. ¹⁹ The Pharisees then said to one another, “You see, you can do nothing. Look, the world has gone after him!”^(B)

⁹ Herod said, “John I beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.^(A)

⁴⁹ But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

²¹ Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, “Who is this who is speaking blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”^(A)

Vengeance on Edom

⁴ Samuel did what the Lord commanded and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling and said, “Do you come peaceably?”^(A)

¹⁹ So the two of them went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they came to Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women said, “Is this Naomi?”

¹⁸ The Jews then said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?”^(A)
