²⁵ But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them.

^25 (A)And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ ^26 (B)But not so among you; on the contrary, ^(C)he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. ^27 (D)For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet ^(E)I am among you as the One who serves.

²⁵ But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. ²⁶ Yet ^(A)it shall not be so among you; but ^(B)whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. ^27 (C)And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— ^28 (D)just as the ^(E)Son of Man did not come to be served, ^(F)but to serve, and ^(G)to give His life a ransom ^(H)for many.”

¹² So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you ^[a]know what I have done to you? ^13 (A)You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. ^14 (B)If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, ^(C)you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For ^(D)I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. ^16 (E)Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. ^17 (F)If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

⁴² But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, ^(A)“You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

³ and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, ^(A)unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. ^4 (B)Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

²⁹ Take My yoke upon you ^(A)and learn from Me, for I am ^[a]gentle and ^(B)lowly in heart, ^(C)and you will find rest for your souls.

¹⁹ And because of the majesty that He gave him, ^(A)all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he ^(B)executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down.

¹² For this reason the king was angry and very furious, and gave the command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. ¹³ So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought ^(A)Daniel and his companions, to kill them.
