¹⁴ Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you.

^2 (A)as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He ^[a]should give eternal life to as many ^(B)as You have given Him.

³¹ “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever ^(A)the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that ^(B)every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become ^[a]guilty before God.

^4 (A)Certainly not! Indeed, let ^(B)God be ^[a]true but ^(C)every man a liar. As it is written:

Fasting to Be Seen Only by God

¹⁶ “Moreover, ^(A)when you fast, do not be like the ^[a]hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

⁶ But you, when you pray, ^(A)go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you ^[a]openly.

¹⁸ “Son of man, ^(A)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to labor strenuously against Tyre; every head was made ^(B)bald, and every shoulder rubbed raw; yet neither he nor his army received wages from Tyre, for the labor which they expended on it. ¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Surely I will give the land of Egypt to ^(C)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; he shall take away her wealth, carry off her spoil, and remove her pillage; and that will be the wages for his army. ²⁰ I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor, because they ^(D)worked for Me,’ says the Lord God.

³⁰ And the Lord ^(A)said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in doing what is right in My sight, and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, ^(B)your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.” ³¹ But Jehu ^[a]took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from ^(C)the sins of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin.
