Herod Kills the Children

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.

⁶ And I saw the woman, drunk ^(A)with the blood of the saints, the blood of ^(B)the martyrs of Jesus.^[a]

When I saw her, I marveled greatly.

¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was ^(A)filled with fury, and the expression of his face ^(B)was changed against ^(C)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. ²⁰ And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army ^(D)to bind ^(E)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

¹³ Then Nebuchadnezzar ^(A)in furious rage commanded that ^(B)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king.

¹² And Hazael said, “Why does my lord weep?” He answered, “Because I know ^(A)the evil that you will do to the people of Israel. You will set on fire their fortresses, and you will kill their young men with the sword ^(B)and dash in pieces their little ones and rip open their pregnant women.”
