⁴ He answered, “Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’^(A)

²³ Then the man said,

² Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and called them humans^[a] when they were created.^(A)

¹⁵ Did God^[a] not make them one, flesh with spirit in it? And what does the one desire? Godly offspring. So look to yourselves, and do not let anyone be faithless to the wife of his youth.^[b](A)

²⁶ He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”

¹⁸ Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner.”^(A)

³¹ And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God,

³ He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?^(A)

²⁶ And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the story about the bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?^(A)
