^5 (A)“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me,

⁴⁰ And ^(A)the King will answer them, ^(B)‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these ^(C)my brothers,^[a] you did it to me.’

¹⁴ and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me ^(A)as an angel of God, ^(B)as Christ Jesus.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

^37 (A)“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and ^(B)whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

Temptations to Sin

17 And he said to his disciples, ^(A)“Temptations to sin^[a] are ^(B)sure to come, but ^(C)woe to the one through whom they come! ^2 (D)It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.^[b]

⁴⁸ and said to them, ^(A)“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and ^(B)whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For ^(C)he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”

⁴¹ For truly, I say to you, ^(A)whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.

⁴⁵ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, ^(A)you did not do it to me.’

Rewards

^40 (A)“Whoever receives you receives me, and ^(B)whoever receives me receives him who sent me. ^41 (C)The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. ⁴² And ^(D)whoever gives one of ^(E)these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
