^12 (A)What do you think? ^(B)If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

¹² As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on ^(A)a day of clouds and ^(B)thick darkness.

^4 (A)“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, ^(B)if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine ^(C)in the open country, and ^(D)go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, ^(E)he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for ^(F)I have found my sheep that was lost.’ ⁷ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who ^(G)repents than over ninety-nine ^(H)righteous persons who need no repentance.

^16 (A)I will seek the lost, ^(B)and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and ^(C)the fat and the strong I will destroy.^[a] I will feed them in justice.

^28 (A)They shall no more be a prey to the nations, ^(B)nor shall the beasts of the land devour them. ^(C)They shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.

⁶ they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. My sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, ^(A)with none to search or seek for them.

²⁵ For ^(A)you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to ^(B)the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

¹¹ He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, ^(A)if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out?

^6 (A)“My people have been lost sheep. ^(B)Their shepherds have led them astray, turning them away on the mountains. From mountain to hill they have gone. They have forgotten their fold.
