⁶ When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.

¹⁸ We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.^(A)

¹⁴ We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice^(A) saying to me in Aramaic,^[a](B) ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

⁷ I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’

¹⁶ Then one who looked like a man^[a] touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak.^(A) I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish^(B) because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak. ¹⁷ How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”^(C)

⁷ I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it,^(A) but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves. ⁸ So I was left alone,^(B) gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left,^(C) my face turned deathly pale^(D) and I was helpless.^{(E) 9} Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.^(F)

¹⁷ As he came near the place where I was standing, I was terrified and fell prostrate.^(A) “Son of man,”^[a] he said to me, “understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.”^(B)

³ The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he^[a] came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.

²³ So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River,^(A) and I fell facedown.^(B)
