Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

^24 (B)Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and ^(C)follow Me.

^38 (A)And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

²⁷ And ^(A)whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Christ’s Example to Be Followed

4 Therefore, since Christ suffered ^[a]for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, ² that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, ^(A)but for the will of God.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

^23 (B)Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross ^[a]daily, and follow Me. ^24 (C)For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. ^25 (D)For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? ^26 (E)For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ^(F)ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. ^27 (G)But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”

²¹ Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, ^(A)sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have ^(B)treasure in heaven; and come, ^(C)take up the cross, and follow Me.”

¹² Yes, and ^(A)all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him^(A)

³⁴ When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, ^(B)“Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

²⁴ By faith ^(A)Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, ²⁵ choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the ^[a]passing pleasures of sin, ²⁶ esteeming ^(B)the ^[b]reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures ^[c]in Egypt; for he looked to the ^(C)reward.
