²³ But he turned and said to Peter, ^(A)“Get behind me, Satan! You are ^(B)a hindrance^[a] to me. For you ^(C)are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

⁵ For ^(A)those who live according to the flesh set their minds on ^(B)the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on ^(C)the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For to set ^(D)the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. ⁷ For the mind that is set on the flesh is ^(E)hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; ^(F)indeed, it cannot. ⁸ Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

^2 (A)Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

^19 (A)Their end is destruction, ^(B)their god is their belly, and ^(C)they glory in their shame, with ^(D)minds set on earthly things.

¹⁴ The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are ^(A)folly to him, and ^(B)he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. ¹⁵ The ^(C)spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.

³³ But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, ^(A)“Get behind me, Satan! For you ^(B)are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, ^(A)Satan! For ^(B)it is written,

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, ^(A)“Did I not choose you, ^(B)the twelve? And yet one of you is ^(C)a devil.”

¹⁴ And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as ^(A)an angel of light. ¹⁵ So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as ^(B)servants of righteousness. ^(C)Their end will correspond to their deeds.
