³ Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?

⁸ You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”^(A)

⁹ And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe^[a] your own traditions!^(B)

¹⁴ and will pay no attention to Jewish myths^(A) or to the merely human commands^(B) of those who reject the truth.^(C)

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,^(A) which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces^[a] of this world^(B) rather than on Christ.
