²⁴ He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”^(A)

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.^{(A) 6} Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.^(B)

⁸ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews^[a](A) on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises^(B) made to the patriarchs might be confirmed

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first.^(A) Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.^(B)

²⁵ And you are heirs^(A) of the prophets and of the covenant^(B) God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’^{[a](C) 26} When God raised up^(D) his servant, he sent him first^(E) to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

⁵ So they were scattered because there was no shepherd,^(A) and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals.^{(B) 6} My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill.^(C) They were scattered^(D) over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for them.^(E)

⁴ “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?^{(A) 5} And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders ⁶ and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’^(B)
