¹⁷ “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?

⁴⁵ A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.^(A)

¹³ You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.”^(A) The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord,^(B) and the Lord for the body.

²¹ “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? ²² These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish^(A) with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.^(B)

¹⁹ Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.^{(A) 20} Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

²⁷ They demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple^(A) of Baal, and people have used it for a latrine to this day.

⁶ The tongue also is a fire,^(A) a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body,^(B) sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.^(C)
