¹² Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were ^(A)offended when they heard this saying?”

^32 (A)Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to ^(B)the church of God, ³³ just as ^(C)I try to please everyone in everything I do, ^(D)not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.

Micaiah Prophesies Against Ahab

¹³ And the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, “Behold, the words of the prophets with one accord are favorable to the king. Let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably.” ¹⁴ But Micaiah said, ^(A)“As the Lord lives, ^(B)what the Lord says to me, that I will speak.”

¹⁷ But ^(A)the wisdom from above is first pure, then ^(B)peaceable, gentle, open to reason, ^(C)full of mercy and good fruits, ^(D)impartial and ^(E)sincere.

⁵ to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that ^(A)the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

³ We ^(A)put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,

²⁷ However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel.^[a] Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.”
