²⁶ But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear.^(A)

³⁷ They were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost.^(A)

⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out, ⁵⁰ for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”^(A)

¹⁷ When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he placed his right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last^(A)

⁵ The women^[a] were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men^[b] said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.^[c]

¹¹ Then there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² When Zechariah saw him, he was terrified, and fear overwhelmed him.

¹⁵ They said to her, “You are out of your mind!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”^(A)

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,

⁶ His body was like beryl, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the roar of a multitude.^{(A) 7} I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; the people who were with me did not see the vision, though a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled and hid themselves.^{(B) 8} So I was left alone to see this great vision. My strength left me, and my complexion grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength.^{(C) 9} When^[a] I heard the sound of his words, I fell into a trance, face to the ground.^(D)

¹⁰ But then a hand touched me and roused me to my hands and knees.^{(E) 11} He said to me, “Daniel, greatly beloved, pay attention to the words that I am going to speak to you. Stand on your feet, for I have now been sent to you.” So while he was speaking this word to me, I stood up trembling.^{(F) 12} He said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.^(G)
