⁴⁹ So it will be at ^(A)the end of the age. The angels will come out and ^(B)separate the evil from the righteous

¹² And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and ^(A)books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is ^(B)the book of life. And ^(C)the dead were judged by what was written in the books, ^(D)according to what they had done. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, ^(E)Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, ^(F)according to what they had done. ¹⁴ Then ^(G)Death and Hades ^(H)were thrown into the lake of fire. This is ^(I)the second death, the lake of fire. ¹⁵ And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, ^(J)he was thrown into the lake of fire.

³⁹ and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. ^(A)The harvest is ^(B)the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.

³¹ And ^(A)he will send out his angels with a loud ^(B)trumpet call, and they will ^(C)gather ^(D)his elect from ^(E)the four winds, ^(F)from one end of heaven to the other.

¹⁹ Now ^(A)after a long time the master of those servants came and ^(B)settled accounts with them. ²⁰ And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ ²¹ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and ^(C)faithful servant.^{[a] (D)}You have been faithful over a little; ^(E)I will set you over much. Enter into ^(F)the joy of your master.’ ²² And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ ²³ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ ²⁴ He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be ^(G)a hard man, reaping ^(H)where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, ²⁵ so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, ^(I)you have what is yours.’ ²⁶ But his master answered him, ‘You ^(J)wicked and ^(K)slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? ²⁷ Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. ²⁸ So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. ^29 (L)For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. ³⁰ And ^(M)cast ^(N)the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place ^(O)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

The Final Judgment

^31 (P)“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, ^(Q)then he will sit on his glorious throne. ³² Before him ^(R)will be gathered ^(S)all the nations, and ^(T)he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates ^(U)the sheep from the goats. ³³ And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.

⁵ As the bridegroom ^(A)was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. ⁶ But ^(B)at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ ⁷ Then all those virgins rose and ^(C)trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ ⁹ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ ¹⁰ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and ^(D)those who were ready went in with him to ^(E)the marriage feast, and ^(F)the door was shut. ¹¹ Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ^(G)‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ ^12 (H)But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, ^(I)I do not know you.’

¹² And he said to him, ^(A)‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. ¹³ Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and ^(B)cast him into the outer darkness. In that place ^(C)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ ¹⁴ For many are ^(D)called, but few are ^(E)chosen.”

⁷ and to grant ^(A)relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when ^(B)the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven ^(C)with his mighty angels ^8 (D)in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those ^(E)who do not know God and on those who ^(F)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. ⁹ They will suffer the punishment of ^(G)eternal destruction, ^(H)away from^[a] the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, ^10 (I)when he comes on ^(J)that day ^(K)to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our ^(L)testimony to you ^(M)was believed.
