⁴⁴ Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.

⁴ Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for ^(A)he who is in you is greater than ^(B)he who is in the world.

⁸ and all ^(A)who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in ^(B)the book of life of ^(C)the Lamb ^(D)who was slain. ^9 (E)If anyone has an ear, let him hear:

⁴ For ^(A)certain people ^(B)have crept in unnoticed ^(C)who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert ^(D)the grace of our God into sensuality and ^(E)deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

⁵ Now I want ^(F)to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that ^(G)Jesus, who saved^[a] a people out of the land of Egypt, ^(H)afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

^19 (A)They went out from us, but they were not of us; for ^(B)if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, ^(C)that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

¹⁹ for ^(A)there must be factions among you in order ^(B)that those who are genuine among you may be recognized.

⁹ But ^(A)those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, ^(B)into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that ^(C)plunge people into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of ^(D)all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

^4 (A)he is puffed up with conceit and ^(B)understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for ^(C)controversy and for ^(D)quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction among people ^(E)who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, ^(F)imagining that godliness is a means of gain.
