³ But He said to them, “Have you not read ^(A)what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:

³ Now therefore, what have you on hand? Give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatever can be found.”

⁴ And the priest answered David and said, “There is no ^[a]common bread on hand; but there is ^(A)holy^[b] bread, ^(B)if the young men have at least kept themselves from women.”

⁵ Then David answered the priest, and said to him, “Truly, women have been kept from us about three days since I came out. And ^[c]the ^(C)vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in effect common, even though it was consecrated ^(D)in the vessel this day.”

⁶ So the priest ^(E)gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread ^(F)which had been taken from before the Lord, in order to put hot bread in its place on the day when it was taken away.

³ But Jesus answering them said, “Have you not even read this, ^(A)what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:

²⁵ But He said to them, “Have you never read ^(A)what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: ²⁶ how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, ^(B)which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?”

¹⁰ Have you not even read this Scripture:

¹⁶ and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?”

And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,

²⁶ But concerning the dead, that they ^(A)rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ^(B)‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,

⁵ Or have you not read in the ^(A)law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple ^[a]profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?
