²³ All the crowds were amazed and were saying, “Can this be the Son of David?”^(A)

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

²⁷ As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, crying loudly, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”^(A)

²⁹ “Come and see a man who told me everything I have ever done! He cannot be the Messiah,^[a] can he?”^(A)

⁴² “What do you think of the Messiah?^[a] Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.”^{(A) 43} He said to them, “How is it then that David by the Spirit^[b] calls him Lord, saying,

Division among the People

⁴⁰ When they heard these words, some in the crowd said, “This is really the prophet.” ⁴¹ Others said, “This is the Messiah.”^[a] But some asked, “Surely the Messiah^[b] does not come from Galilee, does he?^{(A) 42} Has not the scripture said that the Messiah^[c] is descended from David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”^(B)

⁹ The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,

³⁰ Great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the maimed, the mute, and many others. They put them at his feet, and he cured them,^{(A) 31} so that the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.^(B)

³³ And when the demon had been cast out, the one who had been mute spoke, and the crowds were amazed and said, “Never has anything like this been seen in Israel.”

²² Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.”^(A)
