Jesus and Beelzebul^(A)

²² Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.^(B)

Jesus and Beelzebul^(A)(B)

¹⁴ Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.^{(C) 15} But some of them said, “By Beelzebul,^(D) the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”^(E)

³⁵ At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.^(A)

³⁶ Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone.^(B) But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it. ³⁷ People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

¹⁸ to open their eyes^(A) and turn them from darkness to light,^(B) and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins^(C) and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’^(D)

¹¹ Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”^(A)

²⁴ News about him spread all over Syria,^(A) and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed,^(B) those having seizures,^(C) and the paralyzed;^(D) and he healed them.

³² While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed^(A) and could not talk^(B) was brought to Jesus. ³³ And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”^(C)

³⁴ But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”^(D)
