¹¹ Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?

^4 (A)“You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fall down along the road, and hide yourself from them; you shall surely help him lift them up again.

⁵ Then He answered them, saying, ^(A)“Which of you, having a ^[a]donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?”

¹⁵ The Lord then answered him and said, ^[a]“Hypocrite! ^(A)Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? ¹⁶ So ought not this woman, ^(B)being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” ¹⁷ And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were ^(C)done by Him.

^4 (A)“If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. ^5 (B)If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it.
