John the Baptist Sends Messengers to Jesus^(A)

11 Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to ^(B)teach and to preach in their cities.

³⁸ how ^(A)God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who ^(B)went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, ^(C)for God was with Him.

Many Women Minister to Jesus

8 Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and ^[a]bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him,

¹⁵ And He ^(A)taught in their synagogues, ^(B)being glorified by all.

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth^(C)

¹⁶ So He came to ^(D)Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, ^(E)He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. ¹⁷ And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

²⁰ Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. ²¹ And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is ^(H)fulfilled in your hearing.”

The Compassion of Jesus^(A)

³⁵ Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, ^(B)teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease ^[a]among the people.

The Good News of Salvation

¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

Warning Against Idleness

⁶ But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^(A)that you withdraw ^(B)from every brother who walks ^(C)disorderly and not according to the tradition which ^[a]he received from us.

² for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
