⁶ but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.^(A)

⁶ My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray, turning them away on the mountains; from mountain to hill they have gone, they have forgotten their fold.^(A)

²⁵ For you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.^[a](A)

⁴⁶ Then both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you reject it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life, we are now turning to the gentiles.^(A)

⁶ My sheep were scattered; they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill; my sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, with no one to search or seek for them.

²⁶ When God raised up his servant,^[a] he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”^(A)

²⁴ He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”^{(A) 25} But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.”^{(B) 26} He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁵ So they disagreed with each other, and as they were leaving Paul made one further statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah,

²⁸ “Let it be known to you, then, that this salvation of God has been sent to the gentiles; they will listen.”^[a]
