⁴² And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”^(A)

¹⁰ God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.^(A)

⁴⁰ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’^(A)

⁴¹ Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.^(A)

Causing to Stumble

⁴² “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble,^(B) it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.^(C)

The Parable of the Wandering Sheep^(A)

¹⁰ “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels^(B) in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

Generosity Encouraged

⁶ Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.^{(A) 7} Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give,^(B) not reluctantly or under compulsion,^(C) for God loves a cheerful giver.^{(D) 8} And God is able^(E) to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,^(F) you will abound in every good work. ⁹ As it is written:

¹⁰ Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food^(I) will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.^{(J) 11} You will be enriched^(K) in every way so that you can be generous^(L) on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.^(M)

¹² This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs^(N) of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.^{(O) 13} Because of the service^(P) by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God^(Q) for the obedience that accompanies your confession^(R) of the gospel of Christ,^(S) and for your generosity^(T) in sharing with them and with everyone else. ¹⁴ And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God^(U) for his indescribable gift!^(V)

¹⁵ Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days^(A) of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia,^(B) not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;^{(C) 16} for even when I was in Thessalonica,^(D) you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.^{(E) 17} Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.^{(F) 18} I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus^(G) the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant^(H) offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God will meet all your needs^(I) according to the riches of his glory^(J) in Christ Jesus.

¹² For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has,^(A) not according to what one does not have.

⁷ The poor you will always have with you,^[a] and you can help them any time you want.^(A) But you will not always have me. ⁸ She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.^(B)
