^41 (A)He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

Gaius Commended for Generosity

⁵ Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren ^[a]and for strangers, ⁶ who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well, ⁷ because they went forth for His name’s sake, ^(A)taking nothing from the Gentiles. ⁸ We therefore ought to ^(B)receive^[b] such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.

¹⁶ Then he said, ^[a]“About this time next year you shall embrace a son.”

And she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, ^(A)do not lie to your maidservant!”

¹⁷ But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.

¹⁰ For ^(A)God is not unjust to forget ^(B)your work and ^[a]labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ^(C)ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Elisha Raises the Shunammite’s Son^(A)

⁸ Now it happened one day that Elisha went to ^(B)Shunem, where there was a ^[a]notable woman, and she ^[b]persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. ⁹ And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. ¹⁰ Please, let us make ^[c]a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”

^8 (A)Look to yourselves, ^(B)that ^[a]we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.

¹³ But when you give a feast, invite ^(A)the poor, the ^[a]maimed, the lame, the blind. ¹⁴ And you will be ^(B)blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

³² When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. ³³ He ^(A)went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, ^(B)and prayed to the Lord. ³⁴ And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and ^(C)he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. ³⁵ He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up ^(D)and stretched himself out on him; then ^(E)the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. ³⁶ And he called Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite woman.” So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, “Pick up your son.” ³⁷ So she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; then she ^(F)picked up her son and went out.

³ And Ahab had called Obadiah, who was ^[a]in charge of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly. ⁴ For so it was, while Jezebel ^[b]massacred the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water.)
