^39 (A)Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

^25 (A)Whoever loves his life loses it, and ^(B)whoever ^(C)hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

³⁵ For ^(A)whoever would save his life^[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake ^(B)and the gospel's will save it. ^36 (C)For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

^33 (A)Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will ^(B)keep it.

²⁵ For ^(A)whoever would save his life^[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. ²⁶ For ^(B)what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or ^(C)what shall a man give in return for his soul?

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, ^(A)that you may be tested, and for ^(B)ten days ^(C)you will have tribulation. ^(D)Be faithful ^(E)unto death, and I will give you ^(F)the crown of life.

²⁰ as it is my eager expectation and hope ^(A)that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full ^(B)courage now as always Christ ^(C)will be honored in my body, ^(D)whether by life or by death. ²¹ For to me ^(E)to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

⁶ For ^(A)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my ^(B)departure has come. ^7 (C)I have fought the good fight, ^(D)I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Henceforth there is ^(E)laid up for me ^(F)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, ^(G)the righteous judge, will award to me on ^(H)that day, and not only to me but also to all ^(I)who have loved his appearing.
