²³ When they persecute you in this town, flee to the next, for truly I tell you, you will not have finished going through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

²⁸ Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”^(A)

Paul and Silas in Beroea

¹⁰ That very night the brothers and sisters sent Paul and Silas off to Beroea, and when they arrived they went to the Jewish synagogue.^(A)

²⁷ Then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in a cloud’ with power and great glory.^(A)

²⁹ They got up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff.^{(A) 30} But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way.^(B)

The Man with an Unclean Spirit

³¹ He went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbath.^(C)

8 ¹ And Saul approved of their killing him.

Saul Persecutes the Church

That day a severe persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria.^(A)

⁸ I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

¹⁴ Then the brothers and sisters immediately sent Paul away to the coast, but Silas and Timothy remained behind.

¹⁹ But Jews came there from Antioch and Iconium and won over the crowds. Then they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.^{(A) 20} But when the disciples surrounded him, he got up and went into the city. The next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.^(B)

⁶ the apostles^[a] learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region,^{(A) 7} and there they continued proclaiming the good news.
