Ukoo wa Yesu
(Lk 3:23-38)
1 Hii ni historia ya ukoo wa Yesu, Masihi.[a] Alitoka katika ukoo wa Daudi, aliyetoka katika ukoo wa Ibrahimu.
2 Ibrahimu alikuwa baba yake Isaka.
Isaka alikuwa baba yake Yakobo.
Yakobo alikuwa baba wa Yuda na ndugu zake.
3 Yuda alikuwa baba wa Peresi na Zera. (Mama yao alikuwa Tamari.)
Peresi alikuwa baba yake Hezroni.
Hezroni alikuwa baba yake Ramu.
4 Ramu alikuwa baba yake Aminadabu.
Aminadabu alikuwa baba yake Nashoni.
Nashoni alikuwa baba yake Salmoni.
5 Salmoni alikuwa baba yake Boazi. (Mama yake Boazi alikuwa Rahabu.)
Boazi alikuwa baba yake Obedi. (Mama yake Obedi alikuwa Ruthu.)
Obedi alikuwa baba yake Yese.
6 Yese alikuwa baba yake Mfalme Daudi.
Daudi alikuwa baba yake Sulemani. (Mama yake Sulemani alikuwa mke wa Uria.)
7 Sulemani alikuwa baba yake Rehoboamu.
Rehoboamu alikuwa baba yake Abiya.
Abiya alikuwa baba yake Asa.
8 Asa alikuwa baba yake Yehoshafati.
Yehoshafati alikuwa baba yake Yoramu.
Yoramu alikuwa baba yake Uzia.
9 Uzia alikuwa baba yake Yothamu.
Yothamu alikuwa baba yake Ahazi.
Ahazi alikuwa baba yake Hezekia.
10 Hezekia alikuwa baba yake Manase.
Manase alikuwa baba yake Amoni.
Amoni alikuwa baba yake Yosia.
11 Yosia alikuwa baba wa Yekonia[b] na ndugu zake.
Walioishi wakati ambao watu walipelekwa utumwani Babeli.
12 Baada ya uhamisho wa Babeli,
Yekonia akawa baba yake Shealtieli.
Shealtieli alikuwa babu wa Zerubabeli.
13 Zerubabeli alikuwa baba yake Abiudi.
Abiudi alikuwa baba yake Eliakimu.
Eliakimu alikuwa baba yake Azori.
14 Azori alikuwa baba yake Sadoki.
Sadoki alikuwa baba yake Akimu.
Akimu alikuwa baba yake Eliudi.
15 Eliudi alikuwa baba yake Eliazari.
Eliazari alikuwa baba yake Matani.
Matani alikuwa baba yake Yakobo.
16 Yakobo alikuwa baba yake Yusufu,
Yusufu alikuwa mume wa Mariamu.
Na Mariamu alimzaa Yesu, anayeitwa Masihi.
17 Kulikuwa na vizazi kumi na nne kuanzia kwa Ibrahimu mpaka kwa Daudi. Na kulikuwa na vizazi kumi na nne kuanzia kwa Daudi mpaka wakati wa uhamisho wa Babeli. Na palikuwa na vizazi kumi na nne tangu uhamisho wa Babeli mpaka wakati alipozaliwa Yesu, Masihi.
Kuzaliwa kwa Yesu, Masihi
(Lk 2:1-7)
18 Kuzaliwa kwa Yesu Masihi, kulikuwa hivi: Mariamu mama yake alikuwa amechumbiwa na Yusufu. Kabla hawajaoana, Yusufu aligundua kuwa Mariamu alikuwa mja mzito. (Yeye alipata mimba kwa uweza wa Roho Mtakatifu.) 19 Kwa kuwa Yusufu alitaka kufanya kile kilichokuwa, alikusudia kumwacha Mariamu kwa siri bila ya kumvunjia heshima.
20 Lakini baada ya Yusufu kuliwazia jambo hili, Malaika wa Bwana alimjia katika ndoto na akamwambia, “Yusufu mwana wa Daudi, usiogope kumchukua Mariamu awe mke wako. Mimba aliyonayo ameipata kwa uweza wa Roho Mtakatifu. 21 Atamzaa mwana, nawe utamwita Yesu.[c] Utampa jina hilo Yesu kwa sababu yeye atawaokoa watu wake kutoka dhambi zao.”
22 Haya yote yalitokea ili kutimiza maneno ambayo Bwana aliyasema kupitia kwa nabii aliposema:
23 “Sikiliza! Msichana bikira atapata mimba
na atazaa mtoto wa kiume.
Mtoto huyo ataitwa Emanueli.”(A)
(Yaani “Mungu yu pamoja nasi”.)
24 Yusufu alipoamka alifanya kama alivyoelekezwa na Malaika wa Bwana. Alimuoa Mariamu. 25 Lakini hakukutana naye kimwili mpaka Mariamu alipomzaa mwana. Na Yusufu akamwita Yesu.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.
Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son
18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[d]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.(S) 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[e] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce(T) her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel(U) of the Lord appeared to him in a dream(V) and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[f](W) because he will save his people from their sins.”(X)
22 All this took place to fulfill(Y) what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[g](Z) (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel(AA) of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.(AB)
